Burdigalian-Langhian foraminifera of the northwest High Zagros Thrust Belt, southwest Iran

Abstract The foraminiferal contents of the lower–middle Miocene succession exposed in three sections north Nur Abad on northwestern side High Zagros Thrust Belt were studied. Assemblages larger foraminifera from these can be referred to Zone SBZ 25 (and Miogypsina globulus and intermedia subzones), which correlates with Burdigalian Stage. For first time, planktonic documented area document Lang-hian deposits Zagros, upper 20 metres Sayl Cheshmeh section being characterised by occurrence such as Globigerina concinna (Reuss), diplostoma Globigerinoides obliquus (Bolli), Orbulina bilobata (d’Orbigny) O.universa (d’Orbigny). This association characterises suturalis Interval Zone.
